Unexpected Angels

There are angels out there... I know it. And they pop up in the most unexpected ways and unlikeliest of places. I have one with me right now. She's lying on her favorite pillow in my office, watching my every move... waiting to see where I go or what I do next and if she can come along.

My angel is my canine companion, Nildë, and today is her third birthday. She didn't come to me personally on Christmas Eve, but she came into the world as a gift, a gift I have been grateful to have received.

Naturally, she changed my life and she is far from the perfect, obedient dog. But she keeps me company each and every day. She makes me laugh. She makes me responsible. She teaches me patience and generosity. She gives me affection and unconditional love. And while she doesn't have a degree in medicine, she gives the best TLC and has a bedside manner any doctor should wish he had!

Happy birthday to my Nildë! Mummy loves her pup very much! You are my guardian angel...
