Turning the Next Corner

Originally published December 5, 2006

Well, as I mentioned in an earlier blog Winter would be around the next corner and here it is! A week ago we had balmy 60°F weather and these past few days have gone from blustery to gale-force to frigid. The great snow storm that hit much of the Midwest missed us entirely, thank goodness! Snow flurries are one thing, but I don't think many of us were ready to be knee-deep in the cold white stuff so soon in the month. (And honestly, if it only snowed for a few hours on Christmas eve and day then disappeared, I'd be very happy!)

And now Christmas and the other winter holidays are upon us! I've gotten some of my shopping done, by nature of the fact that the family is doing a lot of "group" gifts, but I took a look at my list last night -- boy, Santa and I still have our work cut out for us! But I'll get it done. I always do.

Party invitations are starting to come in with the Christmas cards, but I think I'll stick mostly with the family gatherings this year -- the last thing I need is to slip on a sheet of ice in unfamiliar territory like I did last year! Another broken bone is not something to look forward to...

So... no great ponderings here. Just a check in with my thoughts for the season at hand. Hope everyone is having fun in the anticipation of the season!!
